Mark Lambert is a singer, guitarist, composer and arranger. During the nineties, Lambert was the musical director for one of the biggest icons of Bossa Nova in the world, the singer, Astrud Gilberto. He has recorded with and/or toured the world with: Milton Nascimento, Ute Lemper, Ivan Lins, Bebel Gilberto, Eliane Elias, Dave Douglas, Regina Carter, The New York Voices, Renaissance, Meatloaf, Forró in the Dark, Tirez Tirez, Bob James, Dave Kikoski, Chris Potter, Chiara Civello, Kenny Drew Jr., Gunhild Carling, Michael Rosen, Warren Hill, Bob Mintzer, Kenny Rankin, Erasmo Carlos, Hank Roberts, Ben E. King, Jeff Golub, Mike Mainieri, Darlene Love, Little Jimmy Scott, Phoebe Snow, Dion & the Belmonts, Annie Haslam, Adela Dalto, and Toninho Horta.
After his highly praised debut CD of pop/funk, “More Than Friends” (Chartmaker Records), Mark released his CD of jazz standards, “Under My Skin” worldwide on the Dutch label, Challenge Records. It was produced by the German pianist, Vana Gierig. Lambert received much acclaim for this CD in periodicals such as, The Village Voice (USA), JazzItalia (Italy), Kulterspiegel (Germany) and numerous others.
Lambert currently lives in São Paulo, Brazil where he leads his ensemble, Mark Lambert & Orquestra Radio Swing, a 9 piece band that plays his unique arrangements of American and Brazilian standards from the 20’s to the 70’s. They have performed in many festivals in Brasil, including Rock in Rio (in Rio de Janeiro, Lisbon-Portugal and Las Vegas-USA), Rio das Ostras, Savassi Festival, Tiradentes Jazz & Blues and at the Torino Jazz Club in Italy.
As an arranger/conductor, Lambert wrote 10 arangements for the Grammy Award-winning Orpheus Chamber Orchestra for a tour with Ute Lemper in Europe and the US in 2004. His orchestrations/arrangements have been performed by the NDR Radio Orchestra, The Icelandic Philharmonic Orchestra, the Jazz Sinfônica of São Paulo, the Tapiola Sinfonietta (Finland), Astrud Gilberto, Jam da Silva and Mani Carneiro. In 2014, he conducted the Chamber Orquestra Musicoop and Coro Madrigale in a concert that premiered two symphonies of the composer from Minas Gerais, Fernando Kavera.
Since 2015 Mark has been touring the US, Europe, and South America with Renaissance, the famed English Progressive Rock band.
